Biker Boots

These are seriously some way cool boots. To wear now and punk up a flowery dress, and this fall with tights (and same flowery dress with a biker jacket). Sadly, they are priced way out of my league. Here's the link via Camp Comfort blog.

The Beach

Went on a trip for work to deliver a presentation and was pleasantly surprised by the hotel/views where we stayed--in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Top pic is of sweet tea, and it was quite sweet indeed.

Can't find much about this artist online, but I love her style. Parts of her Silverlake (LA) home were featured in the August issue of Glamour.

Texas

Evan waved his native Texas flag waiting for Daddy Mark to come home this evening. He finally arrived, then promptly drove right past our driveway, sending Evan running and screaming up the street chasing him down. Ahh, the joke never ends here...Good to have him home.

Another cool service station

I guess this explains my appreciation for cottage-style filling stations. The guy on the left is my granddaddy, David Ryan. My cousin recently posted this pic on Facebook.

Dad's Day

Here's to the dads in our lives. Remembering my dad on this first Father's Day without him. And to my husband, the apple of our son's eye, for good reason. Also a link to my mom and aunt's blog with a tribute to my grandfather, Papa Joe.

Hydrangeas

Our sweet neighbor across the street gave us part of his hydrangea bush two years ago. I think it likes all the rain we've had this year.

Goofing around

Practicing with the nice camera Mark gave me. I'm seeing I need to work on lighting. I'm sure we'll all grow sick of these terrarium and crustacean pictures soon :) The shells are mostly from Myrtle Beach (where I was for a bit this week for work), but some (including the way cool fossilized white plant thingy) is from the California coast, brought back by friends Kim and Alfie. A mix of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans in one container. I love the pearlized colors on many of the undersides of the oyster shells. Such pretty shades of blush pink, cream, and grays.

Fog

We had a great fog roll in Sunday morning. 

Legoland!

Made these fun Lego cakes for Evan's b-day using a silicone Lego cake mold. They also sell an ice mold with smaller Lego sizes if you want to mix and match big and small pieces. The kids loved it. Lots of sugar: candy shell, chocolate cake, and icing.

Late again

Just received this book and am loving it. I know it's not a new release, but I still had to post something because Lena's designs are so inspiring and can be used on so many different mediums. Here's an interview with her from a post on DesignSponge.

I had $$ to buy this 1930s Mission-style service station and open a coffee shop/bookstore/garden center/craft shop/bakery. The listing went up on Ebay this week. I will post some pics I took of the building after it was moved from this site.
